To be completely honest, I'm not all that keen on writing a blog. However, I've decided it would be a useful reference when I'm commenting on other blogs, to give some more in depth background and perspective to my comments.
Family
I married my husband, who I'll call Mr. B, a little over ten years ago. We started trying for kids in 2007, when I was 33. By about a year and a half later it was clear that pregnancy was going to require more interventions and risks than we were comfortable with, so we turned to adoption instead. We'd already been researching all the different options, and decided on China's program for children with minor/correctable special needs. We brought our first son home (I'll call him Pooh-Bear, and he'll be 4 in April) in December 2009 and our second son (he's Tigger, definitely a Tigger, and 2.5 yrs old) home in December 2011. Both were born with cleft lip and palate. As of this post we're still adjusting to parenting two wee ones and mediating sibling rivalries (and why is it that they always get along best when they're being bad?).
All three of my boys are bright, sweet, and completely different from each other. I can't imagine life without them.
Work
I work in Geographic Information Systems, and my current job is a mix of map making and database management. It's a career I stumbled on by chance, but I've found I love maps, charts and graphs - anything that conveys complex data or statistics in a visual way.
Hobbies & Pastimes
I like to play with yarn - mostly knitting, with some dabbling in crochet and weaving. I like to stay fit and get outdoors - I run, I hike, I occasionally get talked
into crazy stuff like doing a triathlon. I also dabble in creative writing, and hope to someday have the time and self discpline to do more than dabble.
